Cost Controls Guide

Quote Variable Types

  • Resin: Cost per pound of raw material
  • Color: Cost per pound for color additives (applied with letdown rate)
  • Tape: Cost per foot for tape application
  • Reel: Calculated using formula: (Flange × 2) + (Reel Type × Size Multiplier)

Price Tiers

  • Multiplier is the final markup factor (e.g., 1.35 = 35% markup)
  • Each customer is assigned a tier that determines their pricing
  • Higher tier numbers = higher markups for lower-volume customers

Reel Cost Calculation

  • Select a Reel variable to see the calculator
  • Enter Flange Cost, Reel Type Cost, and Size Multiplier
  • Factor updates automatically - shown in red if different from current value

Global Stave Costs

These stave costs are shared across all reel types of the same configuration. Changing a stave cost here will not automatically update existing reel totals — edit each reel individually to recalculate.

Price Tiers

Stored as final multiplier (e.g., 1.05 = 5% markup, 1.35 = 35% markup)

⚠️ Note: Tier 2 and Tier 3 multipliers are applied to each configuration's Tier 1 price. Tier 1 is set individually for each pipe/reel/color combination and cannot be changed here.

Reel Configuration Management

Manage reel capacity configurations by pipe size. Select a pipe size to view and edit its reel type configurations.

Color Price Modifiers

Set markup amounts per pipe/reel/color combination by customer tier. Markups require an exact match on pipe size, reel type, and all colors. If no match is found, markup is $0.000.

Note: Base Cost is auto-calculated from formula. Use "Recalculate Base Costs" after changing resin price, reel costs, or color factors.

Configurations already in the table can be expanded to add more color combinations.

Import Color Price Modifiers

Upload an Excel file (.xlsx) with columns: Pipe Size, Reel Type, Color 1, Color 2, Color 3, Base Cost, Tier 1 Price

Add Color Modifier

Customer baseline price. Tier 2 & 3 are automatically calculated from this.
Auto-calculated: (Resin × Weight/ft) + (Color × LetDown%) + (Reel ÷ BaseLength)

Variable Management

Manage quote variables: hide/show visibility, add new variables, edit titles/descriptions, or remove variables. Note: LetDown variables cannot be hidden (always active).
